IELTS Writing Task 2: Build a Clear Position, Coherent Paragraphs, and Relevant Support

A high-level IELTS essay is not a template with sophisticated connectors inserted into fixed slots. It is a controlled response to the exact question, with a position that remains visible from introduction to conclusion.

Plan the argument before the language

Identify the decision the task requires, then state your answer in one sentence. Every body paragraph should advance that answer rather than merely discuss the topic.

The argument principles in C1–C2 argumentative writing are useful: claim, support, explanation and a clear link back to the question. If ideas become lists, review clear paragraph structure.
