Reading: Alex and His Family
My name is Alex. I am thirty-two years old. I live in London with my wife, Anna, and our son, Leo. We live in a small apartment near a park. I work in a supermarket, Anna works in a small café, and Leo goes to school from Monday to Friday.
Every morning, I wake up at six thirty. I wash my face, get dressed, and make breakfast. Anna usually drinks tea, but I drink coffee. Leo likes milk and cereal. At seven thirty, we are all in the kitchen.
Leo often asks many questions. “Where is my school bag?” he asks. “It is near the door,” Anna says. “Where are my shoes?” he asks next. “They are under the chair,” I answer. Leo also asks, “What are we having for dinner?”, “Who is taking me to school?”, “Why is Mum wearing her blue jacket?” and “Which bus are we taking?” Anna laughs because Leo is always curious.
At eight o’clock, I leave home and walk to work. My supermarket is about fifteen minutes from our apartment. Anna takes Leo to school before she goes to the café.
At work, my best friend is Daniel. He works in the fruit and vegetable section. At ten o’clock, I sometimes see him near the storeroom. “What are you doing?” I ask. “I am carrying some boxes,” he says. “Why are you carrying them alone?” I ask. “Because Tom is helping a customer,” Daniel answers.
We usually have lunch at one o’clock. I often eat a sandwich and an apple. Daniel likes rice and chicken.
Leo finishes school at three o’clock. Anna usually collects him because her café is close to the school. At home, Anna asks him, “What are you learning?” Leo says, “We are learning about animals.” “Which animal do you like?” she asks. “I like elephants because they are big and clever,” Leo says.
I come home at about four thirty. In the evening, we sometimes cook together. Today Anna is cooking pasta. I am cutting vegetables, and Leo is sitting at the table. After dinner, Leo does his homework. At eight thirty, he goes to bed.
